Fairport's Cropredy Convention

2006

I again had an official photo pass for 2006. I have around 900 or so images of artists. These are slowly being edited down to a more manageable set. The first batch can be seen on-line on my other site here. I am afraid that no video was allowed this year, so you will have to wait for the 40th anniversary next year for a decent video of the festival.

2005

The 2005 DVD is still available. It runs for 62 minutes in widescreen video and is available in both PAL and NTSC. There are extracts from many different acts as well as several interviews. Order from the on-line store. Some still shots are in the gallery and can be seen here.

Comments from satisfied customers:

Just to say I loved your Cropredy 2005 DVD

I think it's great...and I like the canal and village bits. Country Joe - fabulous.

Cropredy 2004 DVD

The 2004 DVD is still available.

Here are some comments from people who reviewed the advance copy. Lots of people who received the production version have posted nice comments since.

Everyone who saw it in the office was terribly impressed, particularly seeing how much you'd expanded in scope and technology from 2003's beginnings. For a personal journal/remeniscence of the event it has just the right touch. Well done!
- Simon Nicol, Fairport Convention

Really enjoying Cropredy DVD. It really cheers me up of a cold winters eve I put on the DVD and am transported back to Sunny August in Croppers. The DVD captures Cropredy nicely the interviews are good, and there is a nice selection of performances. I am glad Cropredy is to continue as this would make watching your DVD very emotional if there were to be no more.
- Sian

I really enjoyed the DVD - I look forward to the 2005 production. In the meantime here is my attempt at a short review:
CDs and videos of past Cropredy festivals have unsurprisingly concentrated on the appearance of Fairport Convention - but this DVD covers the whole experience. Film and photos of the crowd, the backstage crew, the Morris dancers, and artist interviews set the scene. We are then treated to excerpts from the performances on stage - from Jethro Tull, Oyster Band, Show of Hands, Ralph McTell, Anna Ryder and Steve Tilston, and many more - finishing, of course, with Fairport themselves. At the time the future of the festival was uncertain - thankfully it is to continue and we can look forward to Cropredy 2005. In the meantime this is a great momento of Cropredy 2004.

Thanks Stuart, The DVD looks great ,I think you really captured the spirit of the festival, Well Done.
- Chris Lee, Family Mahone

It was great being taken back to August on a cold winter's night.

You wanted comments, so here are a couple which may be of interest:

1) The photography is exceptional, you are clearly very talented.
2) We loved the video of the general atmosphere - queuing, crowd shots, bar etc. More of this please.
3) You should not feel limited by only a short time in the pit, some of the best photos and video of performances I have seen are taken from the crowd, which reflects what the audience saw, and is thus wonderful to see again. The sound from the pit is quite poor, as the mic picks up the backline and any peripheral PA sound, rather than the intended mix - again the crowd area is better for this.
4) The interviews were great.

Given points 2 & 3 the DVD could be much longer in future without having to worry about access.

Thanks again for the present, and see you next year.

Certainly memory evoking with humour.

Surprisingly I enjoyed the still photos as much as the Videos of the acts. The interviews with the crowd and artists also contibuted to the atmosphere generated.

Would have liked an detailed menu indictating which band/section was where on the DVD.

It was basically very impressive
- Paul

I received your DVD, thanks!
A good memory of Cropredy 2004!
I wished it could be seen more from Jethro Tull live, but it's okay.
